The kalimba is an African musical instrument consisting of a wooden board (often collated with a resonator) with attached staggered metal tines, playing by holding the instrument in the hands and plucking the tines with the thumbs. Just need to use two thumbs to make a sound. The kalimba is classified as part of the lamellaphone family, and part of the idiophone family of musical instruments.

A I think if you play for long hours daily, or have kids that think it's a toy it will have to be tuned rather frequently. (the tines are only held in by pressure, you are forcing them to move and then they vibrate). I've been playing mine a few min. daily for the last month or so, it's sounding like it needs a tuning. If I play professionally it will probably need at least daily tunings.

A All keys function properly and the tone is pure on mine. The keys are not labeled but labels came with mine if you wish to add them. There is also a tuning wrench. There is a learning curve when learning to play it. The music itself reminds me of guitar tab sheet music. Coming from someone who reads traditional sheet music, I found it a bit difficult and confusing. My son plays guitar and reads tabulature. He will assist me in that endeavor. I hope this helps
