A It's tone is similar to maple with a slightly bright tone. It is harder and heavier than Indian Rosewood and works well as a back and sides for an acoustic guitar. Padauk has been said to be a promising replacement for generic Rosewood

A I love working with Padauk and the tone is very much what you would expect from any high quality Rosewood. Complex, rich lows with glassy highs, lots of overtones and power as well. It's an all around great tone wood and will work will with Cedar.
